Since its foundation in 2001, the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council (ADBWC) have had a mandate to be the official representative of businesswomen and women entrepreneurs in Abu Dhabi thanks to the support and sponsorship of Her Highness sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Honorary Chairperson of the ADBWC.
The ADBWC was keen to support women in Abu Dhabi, turning them into a key element in leading the change, and an active partner in the comprehensive economic development of the UAE. This, of course, would not have been possible if not for the support of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima for the programs and initiatives that are necessary to position women in their rightful place and to play their role in driving the economy in the future.
Believing in the positive role for women to be involved in all sectors and industries, the continuous efforts of the Council have led to the creation of an optimal environment for women to play their role in the business, trade and investment world; establish the culture of entrepreneurship amongst women; and encourage the rise of productive families and women projects in Abu Dhabi.
Our role at the ADBWC is tailored to allow us to construct a full-blown approach to support ventures and businesses owned and run by women in Abu Dhabi and to provide help and consultation to women interested in setting up their businesses in the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular through active partnerships with public and private entities and solid collaborations with business councils inside the UAE and abroad.
Furthermore, the Council encourages businesswomen to expand their businesses into foreign markets while promoting the projects of women entrepreneurs on different economic and professional platforms locally, regionally, and internationally, which would, in turn, boost competitiveness and diversify the economy of Abu Dhabi.
